Iran’s annual caviar output to reach 200 tons by Mar. 2025

Hosseini said the annual production of caviar in the country is anticipated to
reach 200 tons by the Iranian calendar year 1404 (begins on March 21, 2025).
A total of over 18 tons of farmed caviar and 4,600 tons of
sturgeon meat were produced in Iran in the fiscal 2022-23 (ended March 20),
Hosseini said, speaking at the 8th National Conference and Exhibition of Caviar
and Related Industries.
“We have plans underway to produce
20,000 tons of sturgeon meat and 200 tons of farmed caviar by 1404 and help
realize the 7th National Development Plan”, he added.
Recently, Nasser Karami-Rad, an official with IFO said the
number of caviar farms in the country had increased from 16 to 20 from the
fiscal 2012-13 to fiscal 2021-22 to 195 farms in 22 provinces of Iran in the
fiscal 2022-23, of which 145-150 had undertaken mass production.
