Iran-Russia agreement to develop fisheries cooperation

At the meeting, which was also attended by the Ambassador of
the Islamic Republic of Iran, Kazem Jalali, Minister of Jihad-Agriculture,
Kazem Khavazi, and Ilya Shistakov, Director of the Russian Fisheries, while
welcoming joint research and scientific cooperation in the field of fisheries
and aquaculture, agreed to expand cooperation from the Caspian to the Persian
Gulf.

 Khavazi welcomed the
Russian side's proposals in the field of educational and research cooperation
fisheries and aquaculture, as well as the expansion of cooperation from the
Caspian Sea to the Persian Gulf, and stated that: The Caspian Sea is valuable
to all five related countries and it is necessary to make a joint and universal
effort to preserve the aquatic species of this sea for all and future
generations.

The Minister of Jihad-Agriculture also stated: Strengthening
cooperation in the field of fisheries and agriculture with Russia will lead to
strengthening cooperation between the two countries in various fields. He also
mentioned that: In the talks with the Russian Minister of Agriculture, it was
agreed to reach an understanding on various agricultural issues, in the field
of bilateral cooperation, and we are going to invite an experienced Russian
delegation to study the agricultural and fisheries capacities of Iran.

The head of Russia's fisheries also stressed the need to
implement joint projects between the two countries, and stated that: If Iran
wishes, we are ready to accept Iranian students in the field of fisheries and
aquaculture.

Shistakov also mentioned that: We are also ready to hold
training courses for the production and breeding of sturgeon.

 Russia, Iran,
Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan and Turkmenistan have also extended the legal deadline
for commercial fishing of eastern fish in the Caspian Sea for 2021.
