Ensuring food security in war monumental task, official says

Tehran – Securing food supplies, everyday necessities, and essential goods during wartime – while the enemy systematically targets the nation's critical infrastructure – is an exceptionally difficult mission that amounts to a "great jihad," a senior Iranian official has said.

In an op-ed titled "The Government at Work," published by Fars News Agency, Ali Darabi, Deputy Minister of Iran's Ministry of Cultural Heritage, Tourism, and Handicrafts, wrote: "The true weight of the imposed and aggressive war by the United States, Israel, and their allies against Iran rests on the shoulders of the government, which stands side by side with the armed forces as a fellow combatant."

Darabi emphasized that ensuring food security, public supplies, and basic commodities – spanning hundreds of product categories – under wartime conditions is a monumental and arduous task. He noted that this effort unfolds as the enemy continuously strikes the country's foundational infrastructure, including airports and ports.

The provision of fuel and energy in such a context, he added, has been described as a "great jihad" worthy of the highest recognition.

According to Darabi, ministries such as the Ministry of Jihad-e Agriculture, along with other executive bodies, are on the front lines of this service effort.
