30,000 ha of land to go under sugar
beet cultivation in new crop year
Some 30,000
hectares of land will go under the cultivation of sugar beet in the new crop
year (late September 2023-mid-August 2024), according to an official with the
Agriculture Ministry.
Peyman Hesadi,
the director of the Agriculture Ministry’s sugar plants project, announced that
plans are underway to produce sugar beet across 30,000 hectares of land across
the country in the current crop year.
He added that
farmers have been supplied with much-needed farm inputs.
Hesadi had
previously said considering the current crop year’s sugar beet production, the
country’s total sugar output was expected to reach 1.4 million tons by the end
of the current Iranian calendar year.
