Iran, Belarus pledge deeper agri ties in fertilizer, machinery, food trade
Almaty – Iranian and Belarusian officials have agreed to expand bilateral agricultural cooperation, with a focus on fertilizer supply, machinery trade, joint investment, and food exports.
The discussion took place on the sidelines of the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) Agro-Industry Policy Council meeting in Almaty, where Iran's Deputy Agriculture Minister Akbar Fathi met with Belarusian Agriculture Minister Yuri Gorlov.
Key points of the talks included expanding trade in potash and phosphate fertilizers, alongside exploring joint ventures in agricultural input production, strengthening collaboration in agricultural machinery, technology transfer, and private-sector partnerships and boosting bilateral trade in poultry, dairy, and fruit products, with an emphasis on easing market access for exporters.
Both sides reaffirmed their commitment to sustained dialogue and follow-up actions, aiming to deepen investment, diversify supply chains, and create new opportunities for private sector engagement.
The meeting is part of Iran's broader strategy to enhance agricultural diplomacy and economic cooperation with EAEU member states.
