Future of Iran’s exports lies in organic products: Official

Tehran - The future of Iran’s export growth depends on expanding health-oriented and organic production, according to the head of the Iran Organic Association.

Speaking at the 14th Iran Organic Exhibition, Seyed Reza Noorani said that while the concept of organic products was little known in 2006, it has now become a national priority, with growing demand among patients, expectant mothers, and health-conscious families.

He stressed that amid rising medicine costs and limited healthcare access, the best way to protect public health is by consuming chemical- and pesticide-free foods.

“Organic farming not only ensures community health but also helps preserve the environment,” he said.

Noorani highlighted soil pollution, water scarcity, and drought as major national challenges, adding that organic agriculture and drought-resistant crops can help restore degraded lands and ecosystems.

Citing reports from FAO, FiBL, and IFOAM, he concluded that global demand for organic products is rising rapidly, and the future of Iran’s exports belongs to the organic and health-focused sector.
