Iran maintains agricultural growth amid war: Minister
Tehran - Iran’s agriculture sector has maintained positive growth in 2026 despite wartime pressures, while the country’s strategic reserves of essential commodities remain above legally required levels, Agriculture Minister Gholamreza Nouri said.
Nouri said Iran has continued to ensure a stable supply of food and prevent shortages despite the multiple challenges facing the country, attributing the performance to government measures and sustained support for producers.
He said reserves of essential commodities are currently at satisfactory levels and exceed the minimum levels stipulated by law.
The government is also working to reduce the cost of basic food items, he added.
Nouri described agriculture as the only sector to have recorded positive growth under the current difficult conditions, stressing the importance of safeguarding food security amid external pressures.
He expressed hope that continued efforts to strengthen domestic production would help ease economic pressures and ensure a stable supply of agricultural and food products for the population.
