Khorasan Razavi – The first advanced pistachio-specific weather station in the country has gone live in Mahvelat County, located in Iran’s northeastern Khorasan Razavi, a move officials describe as a turning point for modern agriculture and national production.

Governor Reyhaneh Sharia’ti said the station will deliver real-time, high-precision climatic data to growers, enabling smarter decisions on irrigation, pest control, and spraying.

"It bridges traditional farming with knowledge-based agriculture," she said, "and will significantly boost both yield and quality."

“Mahvelat produces 53% of Khorasan Razavi’s pistachios and 6.7% of Iran's total output, processed through over 100 modern facilities.”

The station monitors temperature, humidity, wind, solar radiation, and more—feeding an early-warning system to help farmers mitigate annual losses from spring frosts, summer heat, hot winds, and dust storms, she added.

"Accurate local forecasts are essential for sustainable production," Shariati added, "and this tool will protect growers from costly climatic surprises."
