Mazandaran logs positive agri-trade balance as exports outweigh imports
Mazandaran – Iran's northern province of Mazandaran has recorded a positive trade balance in agricultural products over the first four months of the current calendar year, driven by strong citrus and kiwifruit exports, officials said.
Asadollah Teymouri-Yansari, head of Mazandaran's Agricultural Organization, reported that 1,483 export consignments, totaling 29,517 tons of produce plus 167,890 ornamental plants, received phytosanitary clearance between late March and late July 2025.
Citrus and kiwifruit dominated outbound shipments, with kiwi exports completed on schedule, he added.
“Imports over the same period comprised 764 consignments weighing over 1.48 million tons, alongside nearly 5,000 cubic meters of timber. Key inbound commodities included feed barley and corn, soybean meal, cotton, wheat, and sunflower meal, all cleared through transit routes after rigorous inspections and laboratory testing.”
Teymouri-Yansari stressed that strict phytosanitary controls at borders are vital to preventing pest incursions, protecting crop health, facilitating smooth trade, and bolstering food security.
He vowed to maintain tight oversight to enhance productivity, expand exports, and safeguard the province's agricultural sector.
