Iran says ready to expand fishery cooperation with Russia,
African nations
Iran’s deputy minister of agriculture said the country was
ready to boost its cooperation with the neighboring states, including Russia,
and African nations in the field of fisheries.
Iran and Russia have the potential to improve their
cooperation in the field of fisheries, Seyed Hossein Hosseini said in a meeting
with the Russian Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Head of the Federal Agency
for Fishery Ilya Shestakov in Tehran on Saturday.
He invited the Russian side to attend the International
Fisheries Exhibition, which will be held in Tehran later this year.
The deputy minister of agriculture pointed to the history of
cooperation between Iran and Russia in the fisheries field which dates back to
many years ago and added that the Iran-Russia Joint Fisheries Commission was
held in Russia’s Astrakhan in April 2023.
Strengthening trade, scientific-research cooperation,
fishing and investment activities are among the fields of cooperation with the
Russian Federation, Hosseini stressed.
The head of the Iranian Fisheries Organization (IFO)
assessed organizing the International Fisheries Exhibition in St. Petersburg as
‘excellent’ and invited the Russian side to visit the Iran International
Fisheries Exhibition, according to Tasnim.
The head of the Russian Federal Agency for Fishery pointed
to the history of cooperation between the two countries in the fields of trade,
research, aquaculture, investment in Iran and called for expanding cooperation
with the Islamic Republic in the relevant field.
Shestakov reiterated that Russia is eagerly interested in
boosting its cooperation with Iran in the field of aquaculture and fisheries.
