Tehran - Iran's Deputy Agriculture Minister Safdar Niazi said Iran must urgently adopt artificial intelligence and advanced technologies to manage the growing impacts of climate change.

 

“Smart agriculture and land management are now indispensable, just as the once-unknown Global Soil Partnership has become a standard international tool. Despite global advances, many modern technologies have yet to enter Iran, creating opportunities for domestic innovators and knowledge-based companies,” Niazi said.

 

Warning that “without AI we cannot manage future crises,” he pointed to the sharp decline in annual rainfall - from around 230–240 millimeters to 140 millimeters - and uncertainty over whether current agricultural water supplies can be maintained.

 

The deputy minister also stressed that recent wildfires have destroyed not only forests but irreplaceable soil, adding that soil salinity, erosion, falling organic matter, and contamination are direct threats to food security and environmental health.
