600 agricultural knowledge-based firms active in Iran

Some 600 agricultural knowledge-based companies are active
in the country, an official with Agricultural Research Education and Extension
Organization said.

Hossein Jafari said that these firms play a major role in
boosting the amount and quality of the country’s agricultural products,
particularly our strategic products such as wheat.

“The Ministry is doing all it can to
make the country self-sufficient in wheat production and less reliant on
imported food [with the help of these firms],” he said.

Enhancing the capacity of the private sector as well as the
knowledge-based firms to make a positive contribution to the Organization’s
goals and objectives is a matter of significance, Jafari added.
