Minister of Agriculture emphasizes importance of village-based farming

Tehran – The Minister of Agriculture announced that the primary focus of the ministry will be on promoting small-scale, village-based farming alongside agricultural supply chains.
This strategy, Gholamreza Nouri added, will serve as the cornerstone for Iran's agricultural development, with its implementation being a top priority for the current administration.
He further highlighted the importance of ensuring food security for future generations, underlying the need to accelerate advancements in agriculture through initiatives such as breeding improvement, plant breeding, and the development of new varieties and strains.
The minister underscored that food security is paramount to national security, stating that the Ministry's primary mission is to guarantee a stable food supply for the present and future.
Nouri also stressed the necessity of adopting knowledge-based approaches, vertical integration, and increased efficiency in agriculture, given the constraints on water and land resources.
He argued that through science and technology, it is possible to enhance productivity by increasing
yields per unit of land while simultaneously reducing water consumption.
