Mazandaran Province exports 7,000 tons of fishery products

Iran exported some 7,000 tons of fishery products to different countries in the previous Iranian calendar year (ended on March 19), according to the head of Iran’s Fishery Organization (IFO).
Seyed Hossein Hosseini highlighted Mazandaran's position as the country's sturgeon farming hub.
He noted that the province's 47 active sturgeon farms produce valuable aquatic products. “The Simorgh megaproject, with a production capacity of 300 tons of sturgeon meat and 10 tons of caviar, is one of the country's most significant projects, with an investment of 420 billion tomans.”
To complete the project, the Fisheries Organization has submitted a proposal for a 600 billion toman loan to the relevant authorities, Hosseini said, adding that the project is expected to bring significant economic prosperity to the province and the county.
Hosseini emphasized sturgeon farming as a key project under the Resistance Economy initiative and supported by the government.
“These projects play a crucial role in meeting society's protein needs, generating employment, and creating income.”
He concluded by stating that Mazandaran Province exported 7,000 tons of fishery products last year, including 1,350 kilograms of farmed caviar worth $930,000 and 110 tons of sturgeon meat worth $730,000, generating significant foreign exchange earnings.
