Iran seafood exports surge, reaching 45 countries

Tehran – Iran's Fisheries Organization has announced a remarkable surge in seafood exports, reaching 45 countries in the first five months of the current year.
Hossein Hosseini, head of the organization, revealed that a diverse range of marine fish, ready-to-eat seafood, and shrimp are leading the export market.
According to customs data, seafood exports have witnessed substantial growth, with a 32% increase in weight and a 24% increase in value compared to the same period in 2023, he added. “In the first five months of 2023, Iran exported 68,000 tons of seafood, marking a 32% year-over-year increase.”
Last year, Iran achieved a significant milestone by exporting 210,000 tons of seafood to over 50 countries, generating a record $650 million in revenue. This achievement underscores the country's commitment to adhering to international quality standards.
Looking ahead, Hosseini expressed optimism, projecting that Iran will export 300,000 tons of seafood worth approximately $700 million by the end of the current year.
