Iran fresh date exports booming, official says
Iran exported 390,000 tons of fresh dates last year (2023-2024), registering a 7% increase compared to the previous year and bringing in a sweet $345 million, the head of the Iranian National Dates Association said.
Despite a slight dip in overall date production (down 4%), Iran remains a major date producer globally, ranking number three, the official said.
About 1.3 million tons of dates are produced in the country annually, 70 percent of which is used in the country for domestic consumption while the other 30 percent is exported overseas, the head of the Iranian National Dates Association said.
