Iran eyes tech-driven agriculture to combat water crisis

Tehran – Iran is turning to technology-driven agriculture as a key strategy to combat its growing water crisis, exacerbated by climate change, a senior official said.
"If we are serious to combat water scarcity, we need to move agriculture towards becoming knowledge-based and introduce new technologies," said Gholamreza Golmohammadi, Deputy Minister and Head of the Agricultural Research, Education and Extension Organization.
He also stressed the need for collaboration across all sectors, from government ministries and research institutions to farmers and media in order to achieve this.
