Gilan - The head of the Gilan Province Agriculture Organization said that over 110,000 tons of kiwi fruit have been have been exported from the northern province.

 

“Gilan ranks first both in [kiwi] production and the areas under cultivation,” Saleh Mohammadi said, stressing the importance of proper harvest timing.

 

He identified CIS countries, India, and Persian Gulf states as the main export destinations for Gilan kiwi, adding that improving product quality and rehabilitating orchards remain top priorities.

 

Last year in December, the official had noted that a traceability program was being implemented under which orchards are assigned QR codes and products were delivered to registered cold storage facilities, with the aim of guaranteeing the quality, identity, and export standards of Gilan kiwi.
