Iran ranks 9 in world in egg production

 

Hamidreza Kashani, the chairman of Producers of Egg-Laying Hens Union, announced that Iran is ranked ninth in the world in terms of egg production.

 “Iran is the ninth largest producer in the world, producing more than 1.3 million tons of eggs,” Kashani said.

He said Iran has the capacity to produce over 1,500,000 eggs annually, IRNA reported.

Based on last year's statistics, 135 thousand tons of eggs were exported for a value of 170 million dollars. It is predicted that egg exports will reach 160 thousand tons this year, Kashani said.

Iranian eggs are mainly exported to neighboring countries including Iraq, Afghanistan, Kuwait, and Qatar.
